Flying Antique Bottles with Food

Posted by Kelvin in Everything

FABF. Flying Antique Bottles with Food. You might wish to pronounce it as FFAA-BBERFF, or FARR-BURFF, or maybe even FEEE-AAH-BERRFF. Either ways also can - as long as its audible, Kelvin be able to make out what you’re trying to get across. (Note: “make out” as in, differentiate - not the other “make out” - the one which you’re hoping I’d even mention here, heh.)

Wait. There’s silly acronyms again? Actually, not exactly. This time, I derived the acronyms from the way I spent the Valentines’ Day of 2007. (and no, I haven’t added in the part where I kena conn-ed into watching an old movie)

Yup, for those of you who were still stuck inside your turtle-cave cum hideout programming some uber-chim-no-logical project in return for a measly plate of gruel, please know that it’s time you embarked on a search for someone to spend the days AFTER Valentines’ with.

Yes, yes, the photos will come, just bear with my words for a few seconds, and try to digest them, whole, please. I know everyone out there’s anxious to get a glimpse of the very, very beautiful gal I had the priviledge of spending the special day with - my Lafina!

Breaking tradition, Lafina and I embarked towards a mature establishment, one with great standing, and well, space. For those of you who haven’t heard of Jurong Entertainment Centre - it consists of amazing cinemas which are fortunately or not, deserted - spaciously, at that. (You go figure for yourself whether it’d be beneficial or not for whosoever you’re going with). As for those who have - come on, leave it at my description, it’s politcally perfect, isn’t it?

Unfortunately, the ticketing staff for that particular cinema branch failed to warn us that the movie, Open Water 2: Adrift, was actually a bloody old movie - and that it was even out on retail DVD’s. Nevertheless, a low-cost production, with somewhat cliche storyline.

Now I know why they can afford to give cheap cinema tickets. *Shakes head*

Oh, and that movie was NC16 due to, er, the MDA’s censorship, claiming partial nudity. Like as if anyone above the age of 6 years can’t spell specific intersting keywords by apparent “accident” into Google or Yahoo’s search feature.

Wait, I suddenly got an urge to sidetrack abit.. can?:

When will they censor the internet? I can imagine the day whereby our MSN chat conversations between an underaged couple would look something like this… (with intervention of the local authorities, of course):

Guy: Hello darling!
MSN detected an attempted to solicitate underaged females. 1 Warning has been added to your Blacklist profile.
Guy: Hello dar!??
MSN detected an REPEATED attempted to solicitate underaged females. 1 more Warning has been added to your Blacklist profile. You have one warning remaining.
Guy: Hello!??
You have been banned for 24 hours for the following reason: Multiple attempts to say “Hi” to an underaged female without prior consent from the following authority body [ Media Development Authority of Singhkapoh ]
Guy: K**! N***!!!! $^#&!*#$&&!!!
Your account has been delete for: Excessive usage of profainity (Filtering Rule #121), which has been implemented by your local authorities.

Wah, if that day ever comes, I’ll throw rotten koropoks which has been kept under the sink for several years now (I think. Not sure if its still there?) at the computer screen in anguish and disappointment, because by then, constructive critism and feedback probably already is extinct and “encouraged“.

Reality hits me from that short sidetrack-ed snippet, and I’m dragged back into my room where I’m continuing to recount the previous day’s events, the very special previous day, which would no doubt mark the first, of many, Valentines’ Day in which I’d be more than honoured to spend with the girl of my life =X - My Lafina!

Then after the silly movie ended, came one of the longest train rides I’d ever experience. We actually sat the shorter route from the two (refer to pic below), since the ride started off from Jurong East, and ended somewhere around Marina Bay.

If you’ve guessed we’re haeded towards Marina South Park, award yourself with two claps and a garland of local orchids, please.

Oh, wait. We got hungry and dropped halfway to go grab a snack at Lau Pa Sat, somewhere along the CBD area in town. The seafood there probably costs like $2 per prawn, so we took a pass on that and went for Fishball Noodles and Hor Fun (white thin, yet broad noodles in some yummy gravy) instead. (<– true Singaporean sense of economical belonging displayed

Note to international readers (non-Singapore peeps):
Fishes don’t really have balls. Fishballs refer to balls of, er, meat (think: Meatballs) made out of fresh fish meat!

Of course, the place looked antique, but somehow, helped in the composition of the photo…

laupasat.jpg

and, my darling Lafina remarked that this specific photograph of me and her looked amazingly lovey-dovey. I must force my dear readers to agree also. Bwahahaha.

(like any skit, or play, a gift has to be present. only thing is, this gift was created from scratch by Kelvin, here, piece by piece..!) - Presenting… (click to see bigger pic)

A clay-decorated glass bottle with loads of 6-sided dice with letters which make up “KELVIN” and “LAFINA” spelt on it. The challenge was to figure out how to form our two names! I think my darling Lafina’s still trying. - it looks amazingly easy, but it takes rocket scientists to figure out, lor!

If you think you can figure it out, DON’T tell me. Go make one with your name, and your lover’s name, too - then YOU, YOURSELF go figure it out. LOL!

Alas, we stocked up on rations under Kelvin’s measly budget of $100 for the day (per person, per second =X), and headed off to Marina South to hopefully fly kites!

For those of you out there who has never flew a kite, yet alone assemble or even, er, string one. Please refrain from the thought that flying a kite is as simple as throwing paper planes (after you light them up with your dad’s lighter - HAHAH! you did that when you were young, right?). Need quite abit of skill lor.

Honestly, I wish I’d documented on film/(digital film) the process of me and Lafina trying to make it fly, but I suppose words could do, too:

shadowkite.jpg
Beautiful, isn’t it? Shadows cast upon a landed kite… (actually, Lafina makes it beautiful.)

Attempt #1: Throw the kite in the air
Result #1: Kite went down, nose first, into the grass. With a discouraging *PIAK* sound, some more.

Attempt #2: Copy the pro-looking students who were swinging their kite around in the air
Result #2: Ended up dragging the kite. Nose down first again, just that this time, even louded *PIAK* sound…

..and the attempts go on and on!

I must confess that it took around 20 tries for us to actually figure out that tension is needed to make a kite fly - and the kite store uncle actually forgot to tell us that. *Smacks forehead with sweaty palm*

Then comes the wacky flying pictures…

meflyingkite.jpg kitestring.jpg

..and with those, the very sweet smelling success! (of kites flying, lah)

I regretted not bringing my uber-long-ranged telephoto lens (+ camera) to catch a shot of the kite around say, 8 to 10 storeys into the vast, yet blue sky. The sight brough upon much satisfaction that could only be felt through sheer effort and working together as ONE!

As expected on a “public” holiday, night would fall soon enough, and it was time for food. We chopped our place by throwing tissue packets onto seafood buffet tables (the way those aunties do in your nearby hawker centres) and ran for the chairs, and then grabbed as much as we could and pigged into it.

Wait. You belief that? *Slaps forehead*. Nah, we had a really nice dinner, like most of the couples did, on Valentines’ Day. I really should spare the mushy details. Go practise it with your stuffed animal or something.

Sky turned dark, dinner subsided, and it was time for the “surprise” of the day - well, not exactly, because Lafina actually guessed it beforehand when she realised I went to buy sparklers and candles. Oops. Okay, so it was supposed to be the guy who made the heart shapes using candles - we took that idea, modified it, and turned it into something we made together.. like this:

heartshapecandle.jpg

(once again, click the picture to see a larger one!)

Yes, I know, it was inspired from Channel 8 TV-sequels, but the candles refused to be lighted up due to the excessively strong winds (the ones which helped our kite fly, lah). Only a few of the sparklers made it shining, though.

BUT THIS ONE LIGHTED UP THE CENTRE OF THE HEART! WOOHOO!

Honestly, we built that arrangement on a path somewhere leading to Marina South Park, thus, couples were walking past us all the time - different couples, of course… - and in all situations, they were looking at our very dream-like arrangement! YEA!

*Kelvin now jumps around, excited, that Lafina and him made something -really- nice!*

Please, now, let me go soak myself in satisfaction, just for abit. Meanwhile, here’s a shot of the Fullerton Hotel, which me and Lafina were supposedly getting “married” on the 30th of February…

Ok. Kelvin really needs to rush his projects already. Indulged in farrrr too much fun this week =X

Oh, and thanks my darling Lafina - I know you’ll read this - for spending this really special day with Kelvin!

impFixDownload.jpg

Click HERE to download impFix 3

Anyways, for those of you who’re looking at this for the very first time - you’re in good hands - no worries - look at the comments at the old post, - and then make the decision for yourself!

Once again, the features of impFix v3 are:

To say “thanks” - with a simple $5 donation - and we’ll thank you like crazy :)

To tell us that “we rocked” - with 10 bucks - because we saved you that dreaded trip to the computer repair store where the only thing they do is make you pay several hundred bucks!

..or, any amount will do - even a cent. HONEST! (come on, you have a few cents to spare, don’t you?)

**** Anything below this line is old, old news :) - Kept here so you guys won’t get lost! ****

Update Again: Tool has been updated to Version 2 to fix the latest ones posing as MySpace worms: http://yandao.com/files/impFix2.zip - don’t worry, the old link points to the new file too!

Update: Tool has been fixed for those who have been getting the C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\HOSTS error. Re-download the tool and try again :)

Okay. Working through the night, and finishing at 2.26am, I came out with impFix for EVERYONE who has somehow got themselves infected by the IMProfile.net virus mentioned in the previous post HERE.

As mentioned earlier on, the virus causes your MSN/Windows Live Messenger to actually spam out LOADS of messages to everyone on your contact list, hence infecting them in return should they run the file from the website.

..and, as promised, here is a fix for the numerous who are affected:

impFixDownload.jpg

Download link: http://yandao.com/files/impFix.zip

Basically, impFix removes the virus in question, thats it.

Have fun, and do post back if you like it, or if you encounter problems/issues with it!
