Windows Live Messenger & Intrenet.org Email Accounts
Hmm. You’ve probably seen this floating around elsewhere and already thought that its fake. But its real! I’m using it right now, not because I’m a sucker for the GUI (graphical user interface), but rather because of its Offline Messages function.
Yes, you read me right, Offline Messages – the same thing we had in ICQ (I’m 64514888) back many years ago, and still do now, and the same thing that’s preventing Yahoo! Messenger users from making the jump to MSN Messenger.
I don’t really know why some people are reluctant to update to it, but.. Here’s my review of features in a nutshell:
- Ability to change colour scheme to ANY, yes any, colour. (for the geeks, yes, you can type in RGB codes)
- 2 (or is it 3) ways of viewing your contact list (big icons w/ display pic, no display pic, etc)
- Folder Sharing – share your whole folders instead of just files
- MSN Spaces integration
- Offline Messages (read above)
- “Calling” another computer – gonna try that soon.
- Subscribing to contact updates
- Adding of nicknames; now you can name your boyfriend/girlfriend discreetly so Mum wouldn’t notice the lovey dovey message in his/her nickname.
- Better support for Whiteboard, Remote Assistance, Application Sharing
- Complete Handwriting support (did i miss something?)
- *FUTURE* Support for Messenger Plus! Live (or is it the other way round?)
Get it from the Direct Download Link from Microsoft’s Servers if you’re interested. My take is that it’s stable and alot faster than MSN Messenger 7.5 which was bloated with… Probably unused API’s and whatnot.
Next on the agenda would be…
…the fact that I’m giving away free *@intrenet.org E-mail accounts, which are hosted by Microsoft’s Live Custom Domains Beta. What’s the deal? Basically, you need a domain to be able to play with that. Ahh, for those who just want to get a piece of the fun, drop me an e-mail at kelvin@yandao.com. I’ll fix you up with something, probably 250mb but Microsoft would turn it to 2.5gb in a while after I invite you for Windows Live Mail.
That’s about it, for now. Sorry I haven’t posted the recipe. =x Getting lazy. Oops.
